Jubilee July’s Stories

Jubilee July is a warm, sun-kissed woman with freckles, soft curls tied back with a red gingham ribbon, and a woven picnic-basket satchel that always seems to have something to share. Every Canada Day as a child, she and her friends met under an old maple tree. The last gathering ended after fireworks, with no one wanting to leave first, and then the years scattered them. She spent three months tracking them down through old Christmas cards, a well-connected cousin, and luck. In her satchel are notes for each of them, including four drafts of one she still isn’t sure about, as she tries to bring everyone back under the maple tree for one more July.
