Meet Raymond the Railroad Conductor
Welcome to the “Meet Raymond the Railroad Conductor” page. I created Raymond the Railroad Conductor as part of my Canadian Trades/Professions Character Challenge. Railroad conductors are a very important part of moving passengers from one destination to another in Canada.
Raymond the Railroad Conductor is very kind and courteous to every passenger that boards his passenger car. Those are two very essential traits to have when dealing with the public.
Raymond wanted to become a train conductor from when he was little. His grandfather worked on the railroad shipping goods across the nation. Raymond wanted to follow in his footsteps but wanted to be in the frontline, dealing with passengers instead of freight.
Raymond was married but his wife passed away from cancer. They do have two grown children, Samuel and Timothy. Raymond missed a lot of their childhood because he was always away from home because of his work. However, he did provide well for his family.
Raymond hopes Samuel or Timothy may follow in his footsteps. However, Samuel is in university studying politics and Timothy is in a rock band, so chances of them working on the railroad are slim to none.
Raymond knows there are challenges in his career choice such as being away from home for weeks on end but he loves his job. He loves the thrill and excitement of meeting new people on a regular basis. He loves his work and can often be seen smiling and/or humming a tune.
