Hailey the Hairdresser – Character Insight

I created Hailey the Hairdresser as part of my Canadian Trades/Professions Character Challenge. Hairdressers are a very important profession in Canada because we love taking care of ourselves and we love to look good.

Hailey the Hairdresser works very hard and is so proud of the fact that she was able to open her own salon. That was always her dream.

Being a hairdresser is a very rewarding career for anyone who works hard and is ambitious. Not all hairdressers own their own salons but it would be an avenue to explore if you were business savvy.

Hailey the Hairdresser brings her love of people to Storyland. She helps people out as much as she can and she never asks for anything in return. I feel Hailey the Hairdresser is important because she shows how hard work can pay off. She also shows how good it feels to help people in need. My goal for Hailey the Hairdresser is to help others to understand how good it can feel to help others in need and not expect anything in return.

Pit Questions and Answers

1. Which character has a jealous tendency?
– Gertie the Queen of the Calgary Stampede would definitely have a jealous tendency over Hailey the Hairdresser and that is because Gertie does not take very good care of herself in regards to her looks.

2. Which character have I written about the most?
– I have written about Gertie the Queen of the Calgary Stampede the most because she is an older character on Storyland.

3. Which character feels like they are treated fairly?
-I think Hailey the Hairdresser would think she is being treated more fairly on Storyland than Gertie because she was given the opportunity to open her own salon.

4. Do these two characters like each other?
– I think Hailey the Hairdresser would like Gertie and if they ever met, I think Gertie would be one character that Hailey would try to persuade to have a free haircut. However, I don’t think Gertie’s pride would let that happen.

5. Which character is closer to my heart?
– I am really pleased at how Hailey the Hairdresser turned out. I do also like Gertie’s cowboy boots and cowboy hat so I am kind of torn on which character is closer to my heart. If I did have to pick one, I would chose Gertie, only because she has been on Storyland the longest.

6. How are these characters similar to one another?
– These two characters are similar to one another because they are both fun to be with and they are go-getters.

7. How are these characters different from one another?
– These two characters are different in that Hailey the Hairdresser cares about how she looks and Gertie, well, she just doesn’t care.

8. How do these two characters feel about being Canadian?
– Both of these characters love the fact they are Canadian. For Gertie, what is more Canadian than the Calgary Stampede and for Hailey what is more Canadian than working hard and owning your own business.

9. How important is family to these two characters?

Gertie doesn’t have a family so she spends a lot of time alone. The people she meets at the Stampede each year is who she would consider her family. Hailey, on the other hand, does have a husband, her high school sweetheart and a daughter, Vanessa that she absolutely adores and would do anything for.

10. Will I be writing future stories about these two characters?
– Absolutely!
