A Nice Long Walk

Fawn and Spot were taking a nice long walk. It was a beautiful warm day, despite the fact that it was only February.

Fawn was walking a few feet ahead of Spot. He noticed a tulip poking its way out of the ground. He bent over to pick it when he noticed a deer standing in the field right beside him. By this time Spot had caught up to Fawn and she stood watching the deer too.

“What a beautiful sight! ”whispered Spot to Fawn.

“It sure is,” said Fawn. “But it looks like something is moving in the grass right beside it.”

“Oh my!” exclaimed Spot when she noticed what had poked its head up out of the grass. “It is a baby fawn.”

”It certainly is cute,” said Fawn.

“And so small too,” said Spot.

Fawn and Spot watched the deer and her baby fawn for the longest time. Both of them were absolutely mesmerized by what they saw.

“I’m starting to get hungry,” said Fawn about a half hour later.

“Yes, “said Spot. “I guess we should get going.”

Neither Fawn nor Spot really wanted to leave but they knew they couldn’t stay there forever. Spot walked ahead of Fawn and this time when Fawn spotted the tulip he picked it. He held it behind his back the whole time him and Spot walked home.

While Spot cooked dinner, Fawn placed the tulip in a vase and set it on the kitchen table.

“Oh my!” exclaimed Spot, when she noticed the tulip. “Thank you so much, I love it. It is so pretty.”
